Dr. Rodolfo Alvarado
Picture
Drawing from Garrett Gomez’s own recorded interviews, award-winning author Rodolfo Alvarado returns to the life of the Hall of Fame jockey not simply to tell his story, but to explore what Garrett’s experiences can teach us about ambition, pain, addiction, family, failure, recovery, and legacy.

Featuring a Foreword by Pam Gomez and A Daughter’s Reflection by Amanda Gomez, the book offers an intimate and unflinching look at the champion behind the victories—and the lessons his life continues to leave behind.

Pre-orders will be available soon.

In 2010, author and historian Rudolph “Rodolfo” Alvarado began a series of deeply personal conversations with Hall of Fame jockey Garrett Gomez. Garrett spoke openly about his career, family, addiction and recovery, regrets, triumphs, and the lessons he had learned along the way.

Resurrecting Garrett Gomez: Eight Lessons from a Champion Jockey returns to those conversations with a different purpose. Rather than another biography, the book explores what Garrett’s life can still teach us about ambition, pain, addiction, marriage, fatherhood, failure, relapse, and legacy.

Featuring a Foreword by Pam Gomez and A Daughter’s Reflection by Amanda Gomez, the book looks beyond the victories and statistics to the person behind them.

Select proceeds will benefit Next Level Equine, created in Garrett’s memory to carry forward his passion for Thoroughbreds beyond the racetrack. Garrett believed retired racehorses deserved purposeful second careers, and that vision now lives on through the organization’s work.
